Larry Johnson |
Johnson
averaged 181 yards per game in his 9 starts last
year. He should continue to dominate this year with
former Jets coach Herm Edwards in charge. Herm ran
Curtis Martin into the ground the last few years, so
Larry should have plenty of touches. |
|
2 |
Shaun Alexander |
Shaun
is a touchdown scoring machine and one of the most
durable players in the league. If Larry Johnson
misses a game or two Alexander will lead the running
backs in scoring. |
|
3 |
LaDainian Tomlinson |
With
first time starter Philip Rivers under center this
year I expect Tomlinson to see plenty of action
running the ball as well as being a Rivers outlet
receiver. |
|
4 |
Tiki Barber |
Tiki is
31 years old this year but I do not see any reason
to believe that his production is about to drop off.
He lost some goal line carries to Brandon Jacobs
last year but he still posted terrific numbers. |
|
5 |
Clinton Portis |
Former
KC offensive coordinator Al Saunders is now in
Washington which should help the rushing offense
immensely. Even without Saunders, Portis finished
with over 1500 yards and 11 touchdowns. |
|
6 |
Edgerrin James |
I know
I am in the minority when I say that Edgerrin will
still be a big time producer even though he is now
running for the Cardinals. Warner, Fitzgerald and
Boldin will all help Edge find some running room. |
|
7 |
Steven Jackson |
Marshal
Faulk went in for another knee surgery and will be
out for the year. Mike Martz and his pass happy
offense is now in Detroit. Translation: Jackson
should be a very big part of the St Louis offense
this year. |
|
8 |
Rudi Johnson |
The
only thing that keeps Rudi from being a top five
running back is his ability to catch the ball. The
Bengles use Chris Perry when the want to throw the
ball. |
|
9 |
Domanick Davis |
Former
Denver offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak is now the
Texans head coach. Davis should benefit from the new
offense being installed. |
|
10 |
Lamont Jordan |
Jordan
averaged over 110 yards per game last year so when
healthy he is a great option. I would expect Lamont
to improve in his second year as a full time
starter. |
|
11 |
Carnell Williams |
Cadillac started out his career on fire but then he
suffered a few bumps and bruises and ran into the
rookie wall. He should be better prepared for the 16
game season in 2006 and he would have top ten
potential except for the presence of goal line
specialist Mike Alstott. |
|
12 |
Brian Westbrook |
Westbrook is another very talented runner who would
be in the top ten if he didn't suffer some type of
injury every year. Even if he does stay healthy this
year the loss of wide receiver Terrell Owens will
hurt his overall production. |
|
13 |
Ronnie Brown |
I
probably have Ronnie too low here because Ricky
Williams is playing in Canada. Brown could really
put up some good numbers if Culpepper can return to
his pre-2005 form. |
|
14 |
Willis McGahee |
If the
Bills can find a quarterback who could complete a
pass longer then ten yards McGahee could post some
good numbers in 2006. If not he will be in for
another long season. |
|
15 |
Julius Jones |
Everyone had Jones in their top ten last year but he
got injured and the Cowboys learned that Marion
Barber was also a very capable runner. Ouch, an
RBBC. |
|
16 |
Chester Taylor |
Taylor
is the starter in Minnesota this year but Mewelde
Moore and Ciatric Fason will factor into the running
game as well. |
|
17 |
Tatum Bell |
Bell is
the starter but if he gets dinged up or has a bad
game Ron Dayne could steal his job. |
|
18 |
Corey Dillon |
I
expect Dillon to be better than he was last year but
I also expect rookie running back Lawrence Maroney
to get 5-10 carries per game to keep Dillon fresh
(and his numbers down). |
|
19 |
Thomas Jones |
Jones
was able to hold off Cedric Benson last year. I
doubt he will be able to do it again. I anticipate
these backs to split carries about 60/40 this year.
If you draft one then draft the other. |
|
20 |
Deuce McAllister |
Deuce
might be ranked too high here because the Saints
drafted do it all running back Reggie Bush. I would
do everything you can to draft Bush as his handcuff. |
