The Best Up to Date News on the Net

Reggie Brown (WR - Philadelphia)   12/22/2007

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Brown (knee) is listed as questionable for tomorrow's game but the Eagles expect him to play.

Brown should play, but he's no more than a No. 4 fantasy wideout in most formats.
Brian Westbrook (RB - Philadelphia)   12/22/2007

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Westbrook (knee) is listed as questionable for tomorrow's game but the Eagles expect him to play.

Go ahead and start Westbrook as you normally would.
Brent Celek (TE - Philadelphia)   12/22/2007

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Celek had the biggest day of his career Sunday with three catches for 50 yards, including a clutch grab for 29 yards late in the fourth quarter that helped the Eagles seal a 10-6 win over Dallas. With L.J. Smith and Matt Schobel expected to miss tomorrow's game at New Orleans, Celek will get the chance to have a bigger day as he moves into the starting lineup. Smith is out with a knee injury, and Schobel is listed as doubtful because of a concussion. "It feels good," Celek said yesterday. "I wish the other guys were healthy, but it's my chance to pretty much show them what I can do, and do it consistently."

Celek, who has 11 catches for 125 yards, said Sunday's game boosted his confidence.
Tim Dwight (WR - Oakland)   12/22/2007

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Dwight (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second consecutive day. As a result, he is questionable for Sunday's game.

Johnnie Lee Higgins and Chris Carr would handle the punt-return duties if Dwight can't play.
Dominic Rhodes (RB - Oakland)   12/22/2007

According to the Sacramento Bee, Rhodes will get his first start as a Raider, in place of injured starter Justin Fargas. Rhodes gets the nod over LaMont Jordan, who began the season as the starter before being replaced by Fargas.

Rhodes signed with the Raiders as a free agent in the offseason and was expected to at least split carries. But after serving a four-game suspension, Rhodes has 19 carries all season. Jordan also will play.
Josh McCown (QB - Oakland)   12/22/2007

According to the Sacramento Bee, McCown will start at quarterback against the Jaguars. Kiffin intimated rookie JaMarcus Russell could start but opted for the veteran. Russell will play regardless of McCown's performance. Kiffin said the offense lost momentum when Russell started the second half against the Colts and the Raiders failed to score in three series. Kiffin hopes to get Russell into the game during the first half but said he didn't know if Russell would finish the game once he goes in. "He is our future, so we made a commitment to play him in the last game, and now we've made a commitment this week to play him and practiced that way," Kiffin said. "So regardless of any scenario as far as how Josh is playing, we'll still play him."

Russell will see more playing time this week and will probably start next week.
Laveranues Coles (WR - New York Jets)   12/22/2007

According to the Newark Star Ledger, Coles underwent an MRI exam on his severe high left ankle sprain earlier this week and it revealed that Jets wide receiver had further damaged it by playing. As a result, the club is considering shutting him down for the rest of the season, according to someone who speaks to the club on a regular basis. Coles, whose high threshold for pain is well-documented, has voiced concern about further injuring his ankle and said this week he's relying on the organization to have his best interests at heart in making the decision on whether he should play or not. He hasn't practiced full-throttle since the injury and is listed as questionable for tomorrow's game at Tennessee.

Coles, who first injured the ankle in a Week 11 game against the Steelers, aggravated the injury when he fell off a training table at the team hotel last Saturday night before the Patriots game.
Kellen Clemens (QB - New York Jets)   12/22/2007

According to the Bergen Record, Clemens (rib) threw the ball well in practice, but it still appears Chad Pennington will start Sunday.

Clemens should be back next week.
Reggie Bush (RB - New Orleans)   12/22/2007

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Bush (knee) did not practice Friday. Bush is listed as "questionable," and his availability Sunday will be a game-time decision, according to Coach Sean Payton.

Aaron Stecker will start if Bush can't play.
Marques Colston (WR - New Orleans)   12/22/2007

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Colston has been placed on the Saints' first official injury report with a sore back, but he's listed as "probable" for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Superdome. Colston did not participate in Friday's practice. Colston, who has missed some practice time this season because of a balky back, said he felt discomfort Friday morning. "It's something that has been nagging me all year," Colston said. "Pretty much I slept in a crazy position (Thursday) night, and I got up, and it didn't feel good at all. It's nothing major. I'll just work the kinks out."

Continue to monitor Colston's progress before setting your lineup.
Jesse Chatman (RB - Miami)   12/22/2007

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Chatman worked some with first unit in a limited practice and hopes to start. Chatman, who is listed as questionable, has been inactive the last two games and ineffective since injuring his left ankle against Philadelphia. "It is the best that the ankle has felt since I injured it," Chatman said. "It has been tough watching." Chatman said the week has been different with burden of a potential winless season lifted. "No one knows what that was like," Chatman said. "The questions about being on the wrong side of history have gone away. "Now, we play a team on the right side of history. The pressure is off us and on them. It should be fun."

It's likely that the Dolphins will not only use Chatman and Gado, but third down specialist Lorenzo Booker should continue in his pass catching role against New England. Booker has led the Dolphins in receptions the past three games, catching 18 passes for 157 yards.
Sidney Rice (WR - Minnesota)   12/22/2007

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Rice, who was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night's victory over Chicago, called his ankle sprain "the worst pain I ever felt. Worse than broken bones, anything." Rice is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Redskins.

Rice hopes to play but check on his status before putting him in your starting lineup.
Eddie Kennison (WR - Kansas City)   12/22/2007

According to the Kansas City Star, Kennison, who hurt his ribs and shoulder last week in a loss against the Tennessee Titans, will not play.

Kennison has 13 catches for 101 yards this season.
Larry Johnson (RB - Kansas City)   12/22/2007

According to the Kansas City Star, Johnson’s lingering foot injury will prevent him from returning after he missed the last six games. Coach Herm Edwards said Thursday that Johnson was doubtful after he appeared to reinjure his right foot Wednesday, his first day participating in team practice since he broke a bone in the foot Nov. 4.

Johnson is probably done for the season so Kolby Smith will get another start.
Daniel Graham (TE - Denver)   12/22/2007

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Graham, who suffered a severe left ankle sprain in the loss to the Houston Texans last week, wants to play Monday against the Chargers. "But it's still wait and see," Graham said. "It's been getting better through the week." Coach Mike Shanahan had said he hoped Graham would practice Friday, but Graham didn't participate as the team went indoors on the artificial-turf field at the South Suburban complex for a little more than an hour.

Shanahan said the plan was for Graham to try to go today in a morning workout the Broncos are scheduled to have at their facility.
Rudi Johnson (RB - Cincinnati)   12/22/2007

According to the Cincinnati Post, the Bengals will play without Johnson Sunday. Johnson has been sidelined by the same hamstring problem that forced him to miss all or parts of five games in the first half of the season. Johnson leads the Bengals with 170 carries this season but he has been held to a career-low 2.9 yards per carry and three touchdowns this season.

Kenny Watson and DeDe Dorsey will assume larger roles in the game plan. Watson leads the Bengals with 564 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He is also the team's third-leading receiver with 48 catches for 343 yards. Dorsey has gained 175 yards on 20 carries this season, while adding four receptions for 19 yards. He has scored one touchdown this season.
Kerry Colbert (WR - Carolina)   12/22/2007

According to the Gaston Gazette, Colbert’s season, and likely his career, is over with the Carolina Panthers. The much-maligned wide receiver went on injured reserve Friday with a knee injury that has kept him out of the last two games. Colbert has been replaced on the 53-man roster by practice squad wide receiver Jason Carter.

Colbert finished the season with 23 receptions for 270 yards and no touchdowns. He will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Robert Royal (TE - Buffalo)   12/22/2007

According to the Buffalo News, Royal (knee) practiced on Friday and is listed as probable for this week's game against the Giants.

Royal isn't worth owning, even in leagues that require two tight ends.
Roscoe Parrish (QB - Buffalo)   12/22/2007

According to the Buffalo News, Parrish was added to the injury report on Friday after falling on his shoulder during Thursday’s workouts. He sat out of Friday’s practice after complaining of soreness.

Parrish will play, but he's no more than a No. 4 fantasy wideout in most formats.
Larry Fitzgerald (WR - Arizona)   12/22/2007

According to the East Valley Tribune, Fitzgerald (knee) is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Falcons.

Fitzgerald played last week with the same injury so we expect to see him on the field this week.
Anquan Boldin (WR - Arizona)   12/22/2007

According to the East Valley Tribune, Boldin (toe) was held out of practice Friday as a precaution. Boldin took a considerable number of snaps in Thursday's workout and coaches wanted to give him an extra day to recover. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons.

Boldin will play so start him as you normally would.
LenDale White (RB - Tennessee)   12/21/2007

According to the Nashville Tennessean, White (knee) didn't practice on Thursday.

It hasn't been uncommon for White to miss practice but he will show up on Sunday.
Alex Smith (QB - San Francisco)   12/21/2007

According to the Sacramento Bee, Smith (shoulder surgery) is tentatively scheduled to resume throwing in three months and to be fully healed in six months. The 49ers hope he'll be back for the team's first minicamp in early May.

The question is will Smith be a 49er next year?
Reggie Brown (WR - Philadelphia)   12/21/2007

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Brown (knee) was limited in practice yesterday.

The Eagles don't have anything to play for so we don't expect Brown to play.
Brian Westbrook (RB - Philadelphia)   12/21/2007

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Westbrook (knee) did not practice yesterday.

It looks like Westbrook's status won't be determined until gametime but Correll Buckhalter (illness) also didn't practice.
Willie Parker (RB - Pittsburgh)   12/21/2007

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Parker left the game after his first carry with a broken right fibula, ending his season. He was the NFL's leading rusher entering the next-to-last game and was named Tuesday to his second Pro Bowl.

Najeh Davenport replaced Parker and had his best game in his two seasons with the Steelers. He ran for 123 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns, one running and one receiving.
JaMarcus Russell (QB - Oakland)   12/21/2007

According to the San Jose Mercury News, coach Lane Kiffin said he still hasn't decided whether to start Russell or Josh McCown at quarterback.

Both will play but Russell is expecting more time on the field this week.
Daunte Culpepper (QB - Oakland)   12/21/2007

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Culpepper (quadriceps) didn't practice yesterday.

JaMarcus Russell or Josh McCown will both play this week so Culpepper will be the Raiders No.3 quarterback.
Philip Rivers (QB - San Diego)   12/21/2007

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Rivers also had his reps limited again, as he likely will the rest of the season as he plays with a sprained ligament.

Rivers will play so start him as you normally would.
Brandon Jacobs (RB - New York Giants)   12/21/2007

According to Newsday, Jacobs (hamstring) practiced at full speed yesterday.

Jacobs will play so start him as you normally would.
Kellen Clemens (QB - New York Jets)   12/21/2007

According to Newsday, Clemens, who suffered a rib and shoulder injury early in last week's game, was severely limited in Wednesday's practice but appeared to have more mobility in his left arm yesterday. Still, he seemed to struggle throwing the ball.

Chad Pennington will start but Clemens might suit up.
Plaxico Burress (WR - New York Giants)   12/21/2007

According to the Bergen Record, Plaxico Burress (ankle) didn't practice yesterday.

This is normal for Burress so start him as you normally would.
Sidney Rice (WR - Minnesota)   12/21/2007

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Rice (ankle sprain) missed a second consecutive day of practice Thursday.

Continue to monitor Rice's progress before setting your lineup.
Jesse Chatman (RB - Miami)   12/21/2007

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Chatman continues to work with the starting unit, increasing the possibilities that he'll not only play against the Patriots on Sunday, but might regain his starting spot. Chatman's running and walking without any semblance of a limp, and the cuts he made on the field during Thursday's practice session were crisp. He's presently working ahead of Samkon Gado, who has filled in for him the past two weeks, gaining 95 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

It's likely that the Dolphins will not only use Chatman and Gado, but third down specialist Lorenzo Booker should continue in his pass catching role against New England. Booker has led the Dolphins in receptions the past three games, catching 18 passes for 157 yards.
Kyle Brady (TE - New England)   12/21/2007

According to the Boston Globe, Brady, who injured an ankle against the Jets, sat out for the second straight day.

Brady's status won't be determined until gametime.
Benjamin Watson (TE - New England)   12/21/2007

According to the Boston Globe, Watson (ankle) had limited participation in practice yesterday.

The emergence of Wes Welker has limited the number of balls thrown to the Patriots tight ends this year.
Eddie Kennison (WR - Kansas City)   12/21/2007

According to the Kansas City Star, Kennison (ribs) did not practice Thursday.

Dwayne Bowe has hit the rookie wall so at this time we don't recommend starting any Chiefs receiver.
Larry Johnson (RB - Kansas City)   12/21/2007

According to the Kansas City Star, Johnson appeared to re-injure the foot that sidelined him six games, he missed practice Thursday and probably will not play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Johnson broke a bone in his right foot in the fourth quarter Nov. 4 against the Green Bay Packers. He returned to practice two weeks ago but was limited until Wednesday. He took first-team snaps Wednesday but left practice early and appeared to favor his injured foot. Coach Herm Edwards had been hopeful Johnson could return for the Chiefs’ final two games and did not give a definitive answer Wednesday regarding Johnson’s status. After Johnson’s absence Thursday, Edwards’ expectations were clearer. "He’s probably doubtful to out," Edwards said. "He’s doubtful right now; he’s probably going to be out."

Johnson is probably done for the season so Kolby Smith will get another start.
Eric Johnson (TE - New Orleans)   12/21/2007

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Johnson (groin) missed Thursday's practice.

  Johnson won't play this week.
Reggie Bush (RB - New Orleans)   12/21/2007

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Bush backed off Thursday. He went through individual drills but did not participate in the team portion of practice. Coach Sean Payton said that's not necessarily a bad sign. But Bush's status for Sunday's game against Philadelphia remains questionable. "I think part of our plan was getting a good day's work Wednesday," Payton said of Bush, who missed the past two games with a torn left posterior cruciate ligament. "We'll see where we're at (after) today. It's too early to say."

Bush said he felt good after Wednesday's heavier workload and remains optimistic he might be able to play Sunday. Aaron Stecker would start if Bush can't go.
Brandon Stokley (WR - Denver)   12/21/2007

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Stokley (right knee) was limited at practice on Thursday.

It looks like Stokley's status won't be determined until gametime.
Daniel Graham (TE - Denver)   12/21/2007

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Graham (left ankle) likely will return to practice today after sitting out two days. Graham still is holding out hope of playing Monday.

Only start Graham if you have no other options.
Ron Dayne (RB - Houston)   12/21/2007

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are still expecting Dayne (ankle) to play this week.

Dayne will probably split carries with Darius Walker but he will be the goal line back so he is the better fantasy option.
Matt Schaub (QB - Houston)   12/21/2007

According to the Houston Chronicle, Schaub continued to participate in portions of practice Thursday, but coach Gary Kubiak said he would not decide until Sunday if he is going to activate Schaub for the game. If he is activated, he would be Sage Rosenfels' backup. Kubiak does want to see Schaub play again before the season ends, though. "We're playing our two division opponents, two great football teams," Kubiak said. "Matt has never been to Indianapolis, and what that's like to play there and run a team in that situation and that environment."

Schaub showed flashes of being a solid quarterback but he goes into the offseason as a fantasy backup.
Devin Aromashodu (WR - Indianapolis)   12/21/2007

According to the Indianapolis Star, Aromashodu will get his chance. Unless or until wide receiver Marvin Harrison returns from a knee injury that has kept him out of nine games, Aromashodu is the third receiver in the Colts' three-wide package going into the final two games of the regular season and the playoffs. "He's a young guy, but he can run and he's got good speed and size in combination," quarterback Peyton Manning said. "I think he'll play a big role here down the stretch, I really do."

Any Colts receiver that has extended playing time is always worth noting so keep an eye on how Aromashodu finishes the season.
Reggie Williams (WR - Jacksonville)   12/21/2007

According to the Florida Union Times, Williams is tied with the retired Jimmy Smith with the team record for touchdown catches (eight) in a season and has two games to break it. That's a special mark for Williams because he has a good rapport with Smith. They talk at least once a week, and Williams receives tips from Smith. "It means a lot," Williams said. "He's my big brother. We always talk about what's going on in his life and what's going on in mine."

Williams, and the Jaguars passing game, has been one of bigger surprises this year.
Rudi Johnson (RB - Cincinnati)   12/21/2007

According to the Cincinnati Post, Johnson did not practice again on Thursday because of a tight hamstring. Johnson missed or played a limited role in five games this season because of a hamstring injury. Johnson has enjoyed great success against the Browns in his career. His first carries in the NFL came against Cleveland in 2002 and five of his 19 career 100-yard games have been against the Browns, including gaining 118 yards on Sept. 16 for his only 100-yard game this season.

It doesn't look good for Johnson so Kenny Watson should get the start this week against the Browns. Watson leads the Bengals with 564 yards rushing and five rushing touchdowns.
Chris Henry (WR - Cincinnati)   12/21/2007

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Henry (ankle) returned to practice Thursday.

Henry will play so start him as you normally would.
Tony Romo (QB - Dallas)   12/21/2007

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Romo went through Thursday's practice and made an assortment of passes and appears ready for Saturday's game at Carolina. "He thought things were progressing well," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said. "He said he is feeling better and better. He is real positive. We're still going to be protective of it. But it looks real positive." Romo, who has not spoken to the media since Sunday, has been receiving extensive treatment on the bruised right thumb throughout the week and said the pain has been minimal. The only pain he is dealing with is on his follow-through motion on passes. "He came out and threw a lot better than I thought he would have," wide receiver Terrell Owens said. "The thing for him is just not having a setback."

We would like for Romo to get normal rest but the Cowboys play on Saturday. All signs point to him starting so don't be afraid to put him in your lineup.
Troy Smith (QB - Baltimore)   12/21/2007

According to the Baltimore Sun, Kyle Boller missing a second straight day with a concussion, Smith will make his first NFL start Sunday, becoming the latest young player to be forced into the lineup. The sixth rookie to start for the Ravens this season, Smith will take over the offense after quarterbacking four series in the NFL. "He's as ready as you're going to be as a rookie," coach Brian Billick said. "One thing I don't worry about is that he has a strong personality. You worry what happens if things get ugly with him and pressures ... but he will fight through whatever happens. He's a very strong-willed young man."

It's questionable whether Boller, who suffered the concussion last Sunday, can be the backup at Seattle. If he can't play Sunday, the Ravens would promote undrafted rookie Cullen Finnerty from the practice squad.
Anquan Boldin (WR - Arizona)   12/21/2007

According to the Arizona Republic, Boldin (toe) was limited in practice yesterday and is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Falcons.

The Cardinals expect Boldin to play this week but make sure you check his status before putting him in your starting lineup.
Larry Fitzgerald (WR - Arizona)   12/21/2007

According to the Arizona Republic, Fitzgerald (groin) was limited in practice yesterday and is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Falcons.

Fitzgerald played with this injury last week so we expect him to play but verify his status about an hour before kickoff.
Vinny Testaverde (QB - Carolina)   12/21/2007

According to the Gaston Gazette, Testaverde (Achilles' tendon) did not practice yesterday.

Matt Moore will get the start this week.
Kerry Colbert (WR - Carolina)   12/21/2007

According to the Gaston Gazette, Colbert (knee) appears likely to miss his third straight game with a knee injury.

The Panthers offense has struggled without Jake Delhomme and Colbert, a deep deep sleeper in the preseason, hasn't done anything this year.
Tony Romo (QB - Dallas)   12/20/2007

According to the Dallas Morning News, when Wade Phillips went to practice Wednesday, he did not expect Romo to throw any passes because of an injured right thumb. Not only did Romo take part in a full practice, he was able to make all of the throws, which led Phillips to believe Romo will play Saturday at Carolina. During the portion of practice that was open to the media, Romo appeared to be cautious with his passes. Phillips said Romo did not take a snap from center, working only from the shotgun. Romo felt a little pain on his follow through, said Phillips, who added, "he seemed pretty accurate as far as throwing the football."

Because Romo was able to participate fully, backup Brad Johnson did not see extra snaps with the first team - just another indication that Romo will start.
Reggie Bush (RB - New Orleans)   12/20/2007

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Bush returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, but said his availability for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles likely won't be decided until game time. "It felt pretty good; we'll see how it goes and make a decision when the time comes," said Bush, who suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Saints' 27-23 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 2. Bush said unless he can fully participate, he won't suit up. "It's a team decision, not just mine," Bush said. "If I'm going to play, I'm going to go 110 percent. I'm not just going in half. If that's the case, I won't even play. Whenever the time comes for me to play, I'm going to give it my all."

Aaron Stecker will start if Bush can't play and he is a viable fantasy flex starter.
Larry Johnson (RB - Kansas City)   12/20/2007

According to the Kansas City Star, Johnson told many of the other Chiefs that he would return to play before the season was finished and now has but two games left to make good on it. Johnson received a heavier workload in practice Wednesday than he has since the injury in early November. Johnson shared the first-team snaps with Kolby Smith and appeared as if he was preparing to play Sunday against the Lions in Detroit. But about halfway through practice, Johnson headed for the sideline and spoke with one of the trainers, careful the whole time not to put weight on the injured foot. He then left the practice field and didn't return. That left his status muddled in all sorts of mixed signals. "I don't know if it was a setback," coach Herm Edwards said. "We'll find out (today) and the next day. He got a little sore. I've got to see where that’s at. He’s limited right now and I've got him questionable."

Don't count on Johnson this week and he is probably done for the year.
Laveranues Coles (WR - New York Jets)   12/20/2007

According to the Newark Star Ledger, Coles (ankle) said he's leaving the decision up to the organization on whether he should play against the Titans on Sunday, and hopes the club has his best interests at heart. There's concern Coles could be risking further injury by playing. "I don't want to put words in their mouths," said Coles. "You just wish that they do, and hope for the best. That's all you can do as a player because you're in the performance business and once you're not performing, you're not going to be around long."

We don't think that Coles will play since the Jets have no reason to risk further injury.
Chad Pennington (QB - New York Jets)   12/20/2007

According to the Newark Star Ledger, Pennington has his old job back and will start at quarterback for the Jets on Sunday at Tennessee, replacing an injured Kellen Clemens, according to two people with knowledge of the team's plan. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because only coach Eric Mangini is authorized to speak about injuries publicly. Clemens suffered a left shoulder/rib injury last week against the Patriots when hit by defensive end Richard Seymour on the second play of the game and didn't return. The club is calling the injury a rib. Clemens, who is 2-5 in seven starts while throwing four touchdowns and eight interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns, will likely get better as the week progresses and could conceivably be healthy enough to play on Sunday. But the tight-lipped Mangini may have tipped his hand to his thinking when he was bombarded by questions from the media, suggesting that Clemens isn't experienced enough to miss critical practice time during the week and still play in the game.

Pennington, who played well in relief of Clemens, took all the first-team reps in a morning walk-through today as the Jets installed their game-plan and took nearly all the reps in practice.
Philip Rivers (QB - San Diego)   12/20/2007

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Rivers said his sprained knee felt better than the same time a week ago but that he would continue to take fewer reps in practice, as he did last week.

Rivers will play so start him as you normally would.
JaMarcus Russell (QB - Oakland)   12/20/2007

According to the Sacramento Bee, Coach Lane Kiffin on Wednesday said that Russell could start against the Jaguars and be relieved by Josh McCown. Or vice versa. We're looking at them all, and there are a bunch of different ways to do it, and (starting Russell is) one way," Kiffin said. "The other way is to go the other way and let Josh play whatever (to) point we cut that off (and) let JaMarcus finish, so you don't go back and forth like we did last week."

Russell worked on the two-minute offense in practice. It's one of the situations in which Kiffin wants him comfortable before giving him extended playing time.
D.J. Hackett (WR - Seattle)   12/20/2007

According to the Seattle Times, Hackett was limited to individual drills with his ankle injury, but coach Mike Holmgren said he's optimistic both Hackett will be able to play in the regular-season finale at Atlanta on Dec. 30.

The Seahawks passing game should get back on track this week so start Matt Hasselbeck, Deion Branch and Bobby Engram.
Clinton Portis (RB - Washington)   12/20/2007

According to the Washington Post, Portis and wide receiver Santana Moss were excused from practice with stomach flu.

Start Johnson as your normally would but keep in mind that he is facing a Vikings' defense that is ranked number one in the league against the run.
Jeremy Shockey (TE - New York Giants)   12/19/2007

According to Newsday, Shockey will have surgery this week to stabilize his fractured left fibula and dislocated left ankle. It's the same surgery Mathias Kiwanuka had after his identical injury last month in Detroit.

Kevin Boss, who caught a 19-yard touchdown pass Sunday, and Michael Matthews will move up to the top tight end spots.
Roy Williams (WR - Detroit)   12/19/2007

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have placed Williams on injured reserve, ending his season. Williams suffered a knee injury, a sprained posterior cruciate ligament, Dec. 2 at Minnesota. He had said he hoped to return as early as Sunday against Kansas City or, more realistically, in the season finale Dec. 30 at Green Bay. But with the Lions out of the playoff picture, he feels there is no need to risk further injury. "I want to be a smart football player," Williams told WDFN-AM (1130) on Monday. "If there’s no meaning to the Green Bay game, there’s no reason of going out there and tearing the PCL completely. If playoffs are on the line, I'll put myself on the line, too."

A smart decision by the Lions. Williams might have a new quarterback throwing to him next year.
Marvin Harrison (WR - Indianapolis)   12/19/2007

According to the Indianapolis Star, coach Tony Dungy said he'd like to get his injured players, including Harrison, on the field before the playoffs start. "If he's able to go, he will," Dungy said of Harrison, who has missed nine of the past 10 games with a knee injury. "When that is -- I thought it might be this past week -- we'll just have to see. . . . If possible, we'd like to have him get in there and get some activity before the playoffs." Yet asked if he could say "definitively" that Harrison, 35, would be available for the postseason, Dungy said he couldn't.

Harrison's injury, sustained Sept. 30 vs. Denver, has been described by team president Bill Polian as a bruise and a minor sprain, coupled by a ruptured bursa sac that has since healed.
Peyton Manning (QB - Indianapolis)   12/19/2007

According to the Indianapolis Star, with at least 26 days until the Indianapolis Colts' next meaningful game, coach Tony Dungy talked Monday about playing two meaningless games without sustaining more injuries -- but keeping an edge. "A month is a long time," he said. Dungy plans to use his players "like we normally would" in Sunday's game against Houston at the RCA Dome, with perhaps a more conservative approach for the regular-season finale at home against Tennessee a week later.

This is good news for everyone who has any Colts in their starting lineup.
Tony Romo (QB - Dallas)   12/19/2007

According to the Dallas Morning News, Romo (bruised right thumb) didn't throw any serious passes, though he took some snaps out of the shotgun during a walkthrough Tuesday. Romo walked past reporters with his right hand wrapped in ice and the wires of a stimulation unit visible. Stimulation units help with swelling and range of motion. "He said he felt better," coach Wade Phillips said. "It's just a bruise. He did have some swelling, but I think that's gone down. We expect him to play [Saturday at Carolina]."

Romo laid an egg last week but his thumb will have to be fully healed if he is going to bounce back. We would never recommend that you bench him but don't expect a typical Romo game.
Kyle Orton (QB - Chicago)   12/19/2007

According to the Chicago Sun Times, asked multiple times Tuesday whether Orton would get his second start when the Packers visit the Bears at Soldier Field, coach Lovie Smith declined to say, at least opening the door for the return of Brian Griese. A source said Tuesday evening that no change had been announced, and switching back to Griese would indicate Smith made an error in handing the job to Orton last week while saying Orton gave the Bears the best chance to beat the Minnesota Vikings.

With a full week of preparation, Orton was far from outstanding against the Vikings, completing 22 of 38 passes for 184 yards and throwing one interception. Hopefully you have a better option on your roster.
Kellen Clemens (QB - New York Jets)   12/17/2007

According to the Newark Star Ledger, Clemens dropped back to pass, he was knocked out of the game and the Patriots had a 7-0 lead. New England's Richard Seymour pressured Clemens on the Jets' second play from scrimmage and then drove his left shoulder into the Gillette Stadium turf. It also resulted in a wobbly throw to the left, which Eugene Wilson intercepted and ran 5 yards into the end zone.

The Jets opened their next possession with Brad Smith at quarterback but Chad Pennington took over for the rest of the game.
Laveranues Coles (WR - New York Jets)   12/17/2007

According to the Newark Star Ledger, Coles, who had been playing on a severe high left ankle sprain the past two games, tried to go for one play in the first quarter yesterday -- after skipping the pregame warm-ups -- but he had to shut it down. The veteran fell off a training table on Saturday afternoon at the team hotel as he was getting treatment and landed on his bad ankle -- possibly the reason he was unable to play yesterday.

Coles, who has a team-high six touchdown catches, might be done for the season. The Jets (3-11) have just two games remaining and have nothing to play for. He had 12 receptions for 117 yards in those previous two games.
Jeremy Shockey (TE - New York Giants)   12/17/2007

According to the Bergen Record, The Giants lost not only a 22-10 decision to Washington and a chance to clinch a playoff spot but also tight end Jeremy Shockey on Sunday night at Giants StadiumShockey was lost for the season with a broken left fibula in the third quarter. He was injured when teammate Amani Toomer landed on his left leg during a 3-yard run by Brandon Jacobs. "When you lose a player of that quality at any time, it's a huge loss," said Giants coach Tom Coughlin. "I feel sorry for him [Shockey] because he was excited to be involved [in the playoffs] at this time of year."

Shockey became the third player the Giants have lost to a broken fibula this season.
Calvin Johnson (WR - Detroit)   12/17/2007

According to the Detroit Free Press, Johnson, the second overall pick in this year's draft, finished with five catches for 102 yards. But the numbers make his performance look better than it was. He let two passes glance off his hands early, and the second was intercepted. Things started to snowball on the Lions from there, with the Chargers cashing in with a touchdown and taking a 17-0 lead. "He's got to make those plays," coach Rod Marinelli said. "I mean, he's got to. And they were some good opportunities. He's got to go up and get them." Johnson said he had a "lack of focus" and added: "I got pulled on the one that got picked off. The ref didn't say nothing. But hey, nothing I can do about it now."

Forty-nine of Johnson's yards came on a Hail Mary play at the end of the first half. Johnson caught the ball in a crowd at the San Diego 1, but he couldn't get into the end zone.
Lorenzo Booker (RB - Miami)   12/17/2007
