Hindsight
- Trent Green
Coming
into this game I did not see Trent Green having a big outing. In
his past two starts Trent was averaging only 240 yards and one measly
touchdown per game. In week 10 he faced the Browns' passing
defense who were allowing only 161 yards through the air and led the NFL
in touchdowns against (passing) with only 4 all year.
To
complete the scenario, Cleveland had the 28th ranked rushing defense and
the Chiefs had Priest Holmes pointing at them like a shotgun. They
were going to pound the ball on the Browns all day long.
So
what do you think happened? Trent Green put on his best Dan Fouts
impersonation and threw for 368 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Green's
consistency and output have been improving, and his upcoming match-ups
are solid. This may not be the last time that Trent is named a
Freak of the Week.

The
Sandman - Rudi Johnson
There
are times during the football season that you ask why organizations put
up with the high profile/high salary player who is doing nothing but
complaining. Such is the situation in Cincinnati. Corey
Dillon is deciding when he will and will not play and that is fine with
Rudi Johnson, who had a team record 43 carries for 182 yards and 2
touchdowns on Sunday. Johnson has done nothing but produce in the
absence of Dillon and he is making his fantasy owners very, very happy.
Johnson has more carries (116 to 69), yards (442 to 208) and touchdowns
(5 to 2) than Dillon and may finally be able to grant Corey his wish to
be moved out of Cincinnati. I mean why wouldn’t the Bengals move
Dillon now that they have found a suitable replacement? Dillon
does have a tremendous amount of talent so I could see the Bengals
putting up with him mouthing off before, but now that have someone who
can replace him, no way.
The Bengals have to think long and hard about keeping Johnson as their
featured back for the rest of the season, no matter how healthy Corey
Dillon is.

StingRay
- Doug Flutie
Doug
Flutie made his first start for the very disappointing San Diego
Chargers and he led them to a blowout victory over the Minnesota
Vikings. Flute went 21-29 for 248 yards and 2 touchdowns. What was more
impressive is that Flutie ran in two touchdowns as he weaved through the
Vikings defense like he was Barry Sanders.
How
about the little guy throwing the jump pass? The 41 year old
quarterback had this offense rolling on Sunday and it's too bad that it
took until week 10 for him to get into the lineup. If he stays in, not
only will he bring smiles to the Charger fans but also to the owners of
LaDainian Tomlinson and David Boston.
Flutie
has always been dismissed as being too short and the past few seasons he
was too old. Tell that to the Charger fans who have had to suffer
through the poor play of Drew Brees all season long. Way to go
Flutie, you're my freak of the week!

Smokin'
Joe - Warrick Dunn
How
did the Atlanta Falcons end their 7 game losing streak and beat the NY
Giants when Kurt Kittner, their quarterback, completed only 9 passes for
65 yards? Two words, Warrick Dunn.
Dunn
ran for 178 yards on 25 carries and he scored a touchdown as well.
His great day would have been outstanding if TJ Duckett didn't steal two
4th quarter touchdown runs. Dunn had 101 yards at the end of the half
and became the first back to rush for over 100 yards against the Giants
at home since Ahman Green had 101 in the final game of the 2001 season.
Congratulations Warrick, you are my "Freak of the Week"
