StingRay - Nick
Goings
Nick Goings got his chance to be the
featured back on Sunday when Brad Hoover was listed as inactive for the
game. How did Goings respond? He had 22 carries for 121 yards and 3
touchdowns. The only other back to get a carry was Brandon Bennett who
had just one attempt.
Carolina’s running back situation looked cloudy
but after Sunday’s performance he could be the featured back for the
rest of the season. I picked him up off the waiver wire and stashed him
on my bench a couple of weeks ago when I heard there was a possibility
that Stephen Davis could be done for the year. I didn’t think he had any
real value but after Sunday’s performance I may have hit the jackpot.

CrunchTime -
LaDanian Tomlinson
Looking back over the season it’s hard
to believe that Tomlinson hasn’t been a Freak of the Week yet. Last
Sunday
he posted 164 yards and a touchdown for his highest production of the
season. Even more impressive was the fact that he carried the ball a
ridiculous 37 times. To run the ball that many times and still average
over 4.4 yards per carry is simply amazing.
While it doesn’t look like
Tomlinson is going to break any records this season he has produced week
in and week out. This was his best week and for that he’s my Freak of
the Week.

The Sandman -
Kyle Boller
I have to admit that this is someone I
never thought I would elect as my Freak of the Week, but you have to
love what this kid has done over the past two games. In each of those
weeks he threw for more than 200 yards and he had two touchdowns in each
game.
That is not exactly lighting it up but in the Ravens offense it might as
well be. It is even more impressive when you think about the fact that
he did it this week without Jamal Lewis in the backfield.
From a fantasy
perspective, he is doing what you want from your quarterback. I’ve
always thought that if you give me a mid-to-lower round quarterback who
will consistently give me 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, I will win a
championship. If I don’t waste early picks on a quarterback, I can use
my high round picks on running backs and receivers.
