Freak of the Week - Week 17

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

StingRay - Rudi Johnson

Rudi Johnson carried the ball 28 times for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns on Sunday. The Eagles were sitting their best players but if you were still playing in week 17 (which the Freaks recommend you don’t due to key players sitting) you had to be ecstatic with his performance.

Rudi Johnson also did something that surprised me and that’s break Corey Dillon’s team record for rushing yards in a season. The old record was 1,435 yards set back in 2000. This season Rudi finished with 1,453 and 12 touchdowns. That is really impressive as the Bengals had a brutal schedule and it was Carson Palmer’s first year as a starter.

Congratulations Rudi for a fabulous week 17 and a great season as the featured back in Cincinnati.

Smokin' Joe - Marc Bulger

Bulger had a couple of interceptions in Sunday's game but that is the only negative I could come up with for his performance. He completed 29 of 39 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns in a must-win game for the Rams.

As a result, the Rams advanced to the playoffs and will face the Seahawks whom they have already beaten twice this year. I am not sure if Bulger can do it again this week though. All I do know is that he had his best game of the year when his owners and his team needed it the most.
