Freak
of the Week - Week 3

StingRay - Javon
Walker
I was high on Walker coming into the
2004 season but after week one I was a little skeptical when Javon
wasn’t even the starter against the Carolina Panthers and he only had 2
receptions for 37 yards and no touchdowns.
In week 2 Walker had seven receptions
for 102 yards and no score. That performance gave me confidence in
Walker so I started him in one of my leagues and after Sunday I was
happy I did. Walker had 11 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns
against the Colts.
Javon leads the Packers in receptions,
receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns after three games. He’s
clearly Brett Favre’s number one target and he’s my Freak of The Week!

CrunchTime - Aaron
Stecker
Opposing defenses will have to rethink
things over the next few weeks. Many thought that the New Orleans
rushing game would take a break for the weeks Deuce was going to miss
and figured that defenses would be able to concentrate on the passing
game. This week Stecker made everyone (myself included) reevaluate what
to expect over these next four weeks.
While some carries were lost to the reacquired Ki-Jana Carter, Stecker
took the lion's share of the action (18 carries, 4 receptions) and did
something with them. Not only that, he broke the 100-yard rushing mark,
tacked on 20 receiving yards, and broke a 48 yard scamper for a
touchdown. That’s not what you expect from a backup, but it is what you
expect from a Freak.

Smokin' Joe -
Jamal Lewis
Lewis had the best day of any running
back in week three with 18 carries for 186 yards rushing, 1 catch for 46
yards receiving and a touchdown.
Lewis' biggest run of the day came in
the fourth quarter when the Ravens were leading 17 to nine. Jamal busted
a 75 yard touchdown run and all but ended the game at that point.
Lewis has had a couple of below average
performances so far the season with 57 yards in week one (Hall of Shame)
and 62 yards in week two. I know that Lewis had a couple of touchdowns
in week two but I was beginning to worry if the legal issues might be
affecting him. I guess he answered that on Sunday with a big fat NO.

The Sandman -
Peyton Manning
A pretty simple nomination this week as
Peyton had the best fantasy performance of the week and season. He was
28-of-41 for 393 yards and 5 touchdowns, all of which were thrown in the
first half.
Peyton showed that he no longer has just one receiver as only 5 of his
28 completions went to Marvin Harrison. Reggie Wayne finished the day
with 11 receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Stokley didn’t
have a bad day himself, hauling in 8 receptions for 110 yards and 2
touchdowns.
After playing the first two weeks on the road with average results, the
Colt offense got a little home cooking and went crazy. Peyton showed why
he is one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the league and he single
handedly beat a lot of fantasy teams this week.
