Freak of the Week - Week 10

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

StingRay - Roy Williams

Roy Williams has been a bust so far in 2005. He has missed three games due to injuries and he had only caught 12 passes and scored 1 touchdown in the 5 games he played this season.  Well, on Sunday Roy showed fantasy owners what they thought they were getting when they drafted him for their fantasy teams. Roy caught 7 passes for 117 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Lions victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Roy you are my Freak of the Week and hopefully you will continue to produce down the stretch to make up for such a lousy first half of the season.

Smokin Joe - Ryan Longwell

It's not often a kicker gets Freak of the Week status but when a kicker posts 25 points (in our scoring system) it has to be mentioned.

Longwell kicked four field goals. two of which were over 50 yards (46, 23, 53, 51). Tack on three extra points and you have the second highest output from a kicker this year. Nice game Ryan, you are my Freak of the Week!

CrunchTime - Chris Simms

All the praise for young talent in Tampa has been for the rookie runner. On Sunday it was a different up and comer that was able to shine. Simms stared down Washington's top-10 passing defense without the benefit of a running game to distract them. He then proceeded to make all of the big throws as the Bucs were forced to answer time and time again in this shootout. His completion percentage wasn’t the most impressive (52%), but the fact that he was able to put up over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns more than Washington usually concedes helped make him my Freak of the Week.

The Sandman - Shaun Alexander

When anyone mentions the best running backs in the league, they always forget about Shaun Alexander. Not only is he a great running back but in the fantasy world he is exactly what you are looking for, consistent. Coming into this year he averaged 4.4 yards per carry for his career but he has never averaged more than 4.9 yards in a season.

This week Alexander carried the Seahawks to a big win against the Rams.  Alexander had 33 carries for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. Alexander has long been one of the best fantasy football performers and his consistency is one reason why his owners will wake up smiling on Monday mornings.
