Freak of the Week - Week 8

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

StingRay - Antonio Gates

Antonio Gates showed everyone why he’s the best tight end in fantasy football this past Sunday by catching 10 passes for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even though Gates missed week 1, he is tied with Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller for the league lead in touchdown receptions by a tight end with 6.  Last year Gates set the record for touchdowns caught in a season by a tight end with 13.  If Gates has another 3 touchdown performance he may set a new record.

CrunchTime - Tiki Barber

With all of the big names in New York sometimes people seem to overlook the key to the offense. Manning, Shockey, and Burress all had solid games but it was their workhorse that really got things done.

We should have known it was going to be a special day when on his first carry he broke a 57 yard run down the left side. It wasn’t too much longer before he broke another long run of 59 yards. They managed to stop him on the 1 but he would not be held scoreless. As the 3rd quarter wound down Tiki punched in a 4 yard touchdown run that put the icing on the cake.

Tiki’s new career high in yardage (206, previously 203) is definitely enough to get him noticed as a Freak of the Week.

The Sandman - Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell

Last week the Philadelphia Eagles defense held the best running back in football, LaDainian Tomlinson, to only 7 rushing yards. What a difference a week makes!!! This week the Eagles defense looked like they had more holes than Swiss cheese. The number one rushing offense put a hurt on the Eagles defense. The Broncos were led by their version of thunder Mike Anderson (21 carries for 126 yards and a touchdown) and lightning Tatum Bell (14 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns). I will be the first one to admit that I hate the running back by committee, but who can complain when you get this type of production?
