Freak of the Week - Week 1

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

CrunchTime - Jeff Wilkins

Some took it as a bad sign that the Rams' first team wasn't able to get in the end zone in the preseason. It looks as if it was a great sign for Wilkins owners as he converted 6 of 7 field goal attempts and set a new franchise record.

While Rackers was last year's beneficiary of the inability to get in the end zone, week one suggests Wilkins may take those reins to the top of the fantasy kicking heap in 2006.

StingRay - Donovan McNabb

Donovan McNabb had something to prove this year after the departure of Terrell Owens and the Eagles' last place finish in the NFC East in 2005. McNabb slipped in many fantasy drafts but those who drafted him were rewarded with a great performance against the Houston “Should have drafted Reggie Bush” Texans. McNabb went 24-35 for 314 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

McNabb is healthy again and he seems to have already developed chemistry with newly acquired wide receiver Donte Stallworth who caught 6 receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown.

The Sandman - Santana Moss

When the 49ers traded Kevan Barlow to the Jets before the end of
training camp the consensus was that Gore's fantasy value will go up and now we all know why. This week Gore had a monster game (16 carries for 87 yards, 6 receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns). This was against a defense that was 12th against the pass and 10th against the run in 2005. More importantly to us, Alex Smith showed enough that teams are going to have to respect the passing game. This should allow Gore to put up solid rushing numbers this year so make sure he is in your starting lineup every
week.
