Freak of the Week - Week 1

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

StingRay - Plaxico Burress

I expected good numbers from Plaxico Burress when the Cowboys' best defensive back Terrance Newman was declared out for week one.

Plaxico finished Monday night’s game with 8 receptions for 144 and 3 touchdowns. As great a week as he had don’t expect those type of numbers next week.  There is a good chance that the Giants will be without Eli Manning and they will face a better defense in the Green Bay Packers.

Smokin' Joe - Randy Moss

The numbers were Moss-some - 9 catches, 183 yards and 1 touchdown.

After his terrible year last year and the fact the Brady spreads the ball around to all his receivers, I thought Randy would just be another guy in the Patriots system.  Judging by where he went in all of my drafts I was not the only one. We were all wrong.

How about some more numbers ... at this rate Moss is currently on pace for 144 catches, 2928 yards and 16 touchdowns for the season.

The Sandman - LaMont Jordan

Last year I owned LaMont Jordan and I have to admit that his performance made me so sour that there was no way I could recommend him as a starter to anyone.  Well, much like last year he disappointed me again with an outstanding performance; 159 total yards (70 rushing and 89 receiving) and a touchdown.

What is really interesting is that he had 9 receptions in this game and he had only 10 receptions all of last year.  It might be the pressure of knowing that Dominic Rhodes could take is starting job but this performance is freakish no matter how you look at it.

By the way, I apologize to all those owners who I recommended to bench Jordan last week.
