Freak of the Week - Week 8

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

StingRay - Marques Colston

Colston has been a bust so far this season but on Sunday he showed why people drafted him pretty high in most leagues.

In week eight Colston had 8 receptions for 85 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Those numbers were a season best for him in each category.

Maybe this kind of performance will get Colston out of his season long slump!

CrunchTime - Drew Brees

Everyone’s tired of the Brady / Patriots watch (except for New Englanders of course) but there was another QB on fire this weekend – one whose passing production was superior. His 31 completions on 39 attempts were good enough for 336 yards (30 more than Brady*) and 4 TD’s (1 more than Brady*).

You’re never in bad shape when your QB puts up a 136.8 passer rating on almost 40 attempts. Brees has started to return to his form from last year, when he was able to put up spectacular numbers, and deserves notice as a serious producer and a Freak of the Week.

The Sandman - Derek Anderson

Anderson has been one of the biggest surprises in this fantasy football season. I mean how many people even had him listed on their cheat sheets? More than likely none, as Charlie Frye started the season as the Browns starter.

Anderson took over in week two and the Browns haven’t looked back. Going into this past week he was ranked as the third best fantasy quarterback behind Tom Brady and Tony Romo.

This past week it looked like the Browns were going down after the Rams scored two quick touchdowns until Anderson (18-of-25 for 248 yards and three touchdowns) led the Browns to victory.

This was the first time since 2003 that the Browns won back-to-back games. Not bad for someone who started the season on the bench.
