Freak of the Week - Week 9

The NFLFreaks Salute the True NFL Freaks

Smokin' Joe - Jamal Lewis

In week nine Lewis did not tear up the turf grinding out yards like Adrian Peterson who broke his single game rushing record on Sunday. What he did do was punch it in the end zone four times and the Browns needed every one of them as they squeaked out an overtime win against Seattle.  That was a big time performance that got the Browns their 3rd win in a row for the first time in a really long time.

CrunchTime - Clinton Portis

With the great match up a lot of owners were depending on Portis this week, and he definitely delivered. It wasn’t the flashiest of outings (see Adrian Peterson), but it was nonetheless productive.

His 196 yards were the most he’s put up in quite some time, and the TD he added to the mix turned it into a game changing fantasy performance. With a freakish showing like this I know plenty of owners are smiling right now.

The Sandman - Adrian Peterson

Championship … That’s what the owners of Peterson have had in their mind all year and this week Peterson showed why they have been feeling this way. He went off against the Chargers who were ranked 7th in the league against the run before week nine.

Peterson had 30 carries for an NFL record 296 yards and three touchdowns. Going into the week the Chargers had allowed only two rushing touchdowns on the season. No one expected Peterson to be this good but it’s apparent that he will be a fantasy stud for years to come.
