Hall of
Shame - Week 8
Everybody Knows Your Name
|
I don't care who you are; Player, Coach,
Broadcaster, Writer, you name it. You sucked, and we're going to tell you
why.
Another staff
favorite, our Hall of Shame picks highlight our individual selections for the
worst sports-related performers of the week.

Hindsight - Jake
Delhomme
Delhomme entered the season as a great
value selection with top five potential (He was 8th in 2005).
Unfortunately his owners have been disappointed as he has underperformed
to date, and is only ranked 14th in fantasy scoring.
In week 8 he faced the Cowboys and their
16th ranked passing defense. Dallas allows over 200 yards passing
and a touchdown on average, so this was a pretty good match-up for
Delhomme.
Once again, Jake crushed the owners who
started him, completing just 17 passes for a pathetic 149 yards.
He also failed to record a touchdown pass, which in our scoring system
amounted to about 7.5 fantasy points.
That embarrassing performance earns him a
trip to The Hall.

StingRay - Matt
Leinart
How on earth did Matt Leinart average
close to 240 yards passing and 2 touchdowns against the (then) #2 ranked
passing defense of the Kansas City Chiefs and against the Chicago Bears?
We told you to bench him early on but in
the last two weeks the Cardinals have had favorable match-ups against
the Raiders and the Packers and Leinart looks horrific.
I don’t know if teams studied the game
film or if it is Dennis Green’s fault for firing the offensive
coordinator. Either way Matt Leinart is not getting it done. Two
weeks ago he completed 13 out of 32 passes for 203 yards, 0 touchdowns
and 2 interceptions. Sunday against the Raiders Leinart went 14
for 35, for 157 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. That's
shameful.

Smokin' Joe -
David Carr
Carr is not an every week starter but he
has been getting a lot of action on bye weeks and as a one week injury
replacement. He has been mildly successful in that role but he
absolutely killed owners who started him yesterday. He only managed 113
yards with 1 interception and two fumbles before being replaced by Sage
Rosenfels.
Sage by the way threw for 186 yards and 3
touchdowns. Nice job David. Enjoy the walk of shame back to
the bench or more likely off to the waiver wire.

The Sandman -
Ben Roethlisberger
I am still trying to figure out how the
Steelers lost this week. When I take a look at the box score I see
an offense that had almost 400 total yards and a defense that allowed
less than 100 yards. Then I took a look at quarterback numbers and
all of my questions were answered.
Roethlisberger, the quarterback of the
defending Super Bowl champions, threw four interceptions. That was bad
enough but two of them got returned for touchdowns. The Raiders do
have the leagues best passing defense but Big Ben single-handedly cost
the Steelers a victory.
