Hall of
Shame - Week 9
Everybody Knows Your Name
|
I don't care who you are; Player, Coach,
Broadcaster, Writer, you name it. You sucked, and we're going to tell you
why.
Another staff
favorite, our Hall of Shame picks highlight our individual selections for the
worst sports-related performers of the week.

Smokin' Joe -
Philip Rivers
Rivers is not a starting quarterback in
most leagues but I am nominating him this week on behalf of all Antonio
Gates owners. The Vikings have a great run defense so most people
figured Tomlinson was in for a long day. The problem was that Rivers
could not complete 50% of his passes so the Vikings were able to stop
Tomlinson and not have Gates beat them.
The Chargers lost big and Gates only
finished with 1 catch for 10 yards. Rivers was so bad he could not even
rack up garbage time points against a prevent defense.

CrunchTime -
Alex Smith
While there probably weren’t many
expecting him to blow the doors off this weekend, his incompetence is
simply impressive. Some of the interceptions he’s thrown make me wonder
if he knows what jersey his team actually wears.
He’s definitely a fantasy void, unless
your defense is facing him, but more importantly he’s managed to devalue
all of the players around him. He defines the Hall of Shame in my mind.
I hope he feels guilty about his #1 overall contract.

The Sandman -
Vincent Jackson
During draft day everyone had Jackson as a
sleeper since he was the Chargers number one receiver and Phillip Rivers
had a solid second half of the season in 2006. Also, the Chargers
hired Norv Turner, an offensive guru so all signs pointed towards
Jackson having a solid season.
During the first six weeks he had mixed
results, a touchdown in week three and five and not much else. Over the
past month, he has been terrible. Over that time period he has two
receptions. This includes a bye week but it also includes a zero
reception game in week eight. It’s obvious that the Chargers have no
faith in him since they traded for Chris Chambers. I owned Jackson and
cut him last week…good riddance.
